T/METHODIST GIRL'S COLLEGE

 

 

 

 

 

It's one of the leading Girls' Colleges in Trincomalee town, established by the British Methodist Missionaries in 1819. Its a 1AB school have Grade1 to 13.

The school was administered by English Wesleyan missionaries and the school was handed over to the government in 1949.The school was the first 1AB Girls college in Trincomalee to have hostel facility for the girls.The institution has served the community not only for the academic purpose but also towards the humanitarian activities.

The Methodist Missionaries who came to Sri Lanka in 1814 first established this institution in 1819 at the Methodist Mission house in Trincomalee as an English school.

One of the visions of the Methodist Missionaries was to uplift the educational needs of the people of the country. In 1859, the school was named Methodist Girls' School with boarding facilities, sources said

Upto1949, principals who administered the school were foreigners. Ms Arumainayagam (nee Ms Marimuttu) was the first Sri Lankan principal
